Why we can all afford Personal Training
And why, once you go PT, you never go back

Moose X-Training was created for people like me.  I used to be an emerging markets derivatives specialist in the City.  As a busy banker, I spent a lot of time on planes and way too much time at the office.  I claimed that it was too hard to find the time to go the gym - I was too tired, it was too late, I had too much work to do, it was too cold or rainy - but in reality I just had too many excuses.

In fact, I just lacked the motivation. I knew that I had to work out to fit into the perfect LBD... I also knew exercise was good for me.  For stress levels and other health reasons, ie, to feel good, not just to look good, I needed to be doing it regularly. But, despite the discipline I had in every other part of my life, I just couldn't make myself go to the gym.  Sound familiar?

In the fall of 2010, I decided to take back control.  I had had enough of schlepping my well-travelled (though rarely opened) gym bag to and from work. More than anything, I was sick to death of the gym fees which went to waste month after month.  I decided to get a personal trainer... not just any personal trainer, but a personal trainer that would come to my home.  And, so I signed up with Nick.

From that point on, Nick was on my doorstep every Monday and Wednesday at 8pm.  In the comfort of my own bathroom, I would change out of my suit into a t-shirt and yoga pants while Nick lined up my favourite playlist on my ipod.  Two minutes into the session, I was immersed in planks, lunges, squats, burpees, kettle bells, medicine balls, resistance bands, interspersed with bouts of boxing, you name it!  Forty-eight minutes later, after stretching me, Nick would collect his gear and leave.  By 9pm, I was on the couch with a glass of wine in hand.

Gone were the days of trekking to and from the gym, its overcrowded locker room, and its nasty showers.  My gym bag was relegated to the back of the closet.  There were no more last minute excuses; there was no more guilt.  I cancelled my gym membership and never looked back.  Was PT more expensive than the gym?  Yes, slightly.

But, if I was going to splurge on overpriced Louboutins, not to mention wine-soaked dinners out at the latest new restaurant, or even "necessities" like manicures, pedicures, waxing, and fancy haircuts, all in the name of looking good, wasn't my health worth a nominal investment?  No doubt!  By hiring Nick, I had managed to incorporate a regular fitness regime into my lifestyle.  I felt great, and at 35, I looked better than I ever had.  I began to wonder why anybody would ever go to the gym?  I still don't get it.

I believe that once you've experienced the benefits of PT, you'll never go back to a regular gym. People are beginning to realise that not only is it more accessible - no longer the preserve of the rich and famous - but also far more beneficial than a regular gym membership. Not only does a personal trainer provide the motivation and focus to get you moving in order to facilitate real change and get results, but he also brings variety to your workout to prevent you from reaching a plateau.

He pushes you a bit further to ensure that you are always progressing.  A lot of people fork out money for a gym membership they never use. In fact, Britons waste a staggering £37 million on unused gym memberships and 77% of members hardly ever turn up at the gym. Seen in this context and against what we spend on vanity items/services, personal training is both affordable and convenient. You can feel fit and look fab - all for the price of a haircut. Not only that, it also turns out to be fun.

In the fall of 2012, together with Nick, I founded Moose X-Training because I truly believe everyone can benefit from a PT, whether you're a fitness fanatic or taking your first steps towards a healthier lifestyle. At Moose X-Training, our clients tend to be busy professionals or parents who want to get the most out of their workouts during the limited time they have and enjoy the motivation and accountability a personal trainer provides.  For people who aren't naturally fitness inclined, exercising regularly is an accomplishment in itself.  When the MOOSE comes to them, and he turns up rain or shine (or snow) at their house or nearby park, there are no excuses, so the workout happens... and that's the whole point.  It's more affordable than you think, and with the online scheduling system, more convenient than you expect. To borrow a popular slogan: you're worth it!

About Moose X-Training:

Moose X-Training is a new boutique personal training and group fitness provider that has arrived on the London scene.

Moose X-Training brings something special in its ethos. It has a unique outlook on fitness and how to monitor progress. Most individuals measure their progress with factors like distance run, weight lifted, calories burned, always trying to push themselves a little further. The MOOSE believes that progress should actually be assessed by seeing how well clients have maintained a fitness regime over time.

So, the goal is to keep clients showing up, doing the work and keeping fit over the long-term... keeping it manageable and realistic. The MOOSE offers a variety of workout options to suit clients' goals and budgets. These include Personal Training at home and at the park. A new semi-private option also offers the convenience of personal training at the price of a group class.

Moose X-Training offers online booking and accepts Visa and MasterCard payments.  All Moose instructors are fully insured, have criminal record checks and first aid certificates.
