My Last Blog

It is with a heavy heart that I announce this to be my last blog post as a WSFF Intern.

However, it is with a heart similar to a good soufflé (light and fluffy) that I announce my time here not over. I’m very grateful to be carrying on with WSFF in the capacity of Administrative Assistant (for the time being). This is the stuff dreams are made of. The dreams of interns at least.

The last few weeks before we left the office for Christmas were quite busy what with, amongst other things, SWOTY, thinking about the celebrations for our 30th birthday this year (you’re all invited) and getting ready for the Fit4Women conference.  Personally I was listening in on representatives from the media and NGBs give evidence at the Select Committee on women and sport, and helping put together some Policy Statements that outline WSFF’s thoughts on various subjects. This was really interesting because it made me realise how important it is for charities to have clearly defined stances on issues, both for the outside world and for the identity and drive of the charity itself. It also felt exciting to be a part of the fairly important job of writing down some of WSFF’s integral beliefs.

My last task has fittingly been helping to conduct interviews for our new Intern. It was a fantastic experience to be on the other side of this process, especially when it comes to thinking about what is important for employers and how I want to come across in my own future interviews. It was also a satisfying end to my own intern experience: the creation of a new Internship Programme was one of my first projects so to see it come to fruition was really great.

Of course it wouldn’t be Christmas without an office party. An enjoyable time was had by all… I won’t dwell on the details but I will give you some advice: try not to fall asleep on the Metropolitan line; you may end up in Amersham, disorientated, and £85 poorer by the time you get home.

I’m about two weeks into my new post and it’s certainly been a big step up, not just because I get in an hour earlier now. It’s also an incredible opportunity, teaching me lots of different skills on top of what I’ve learnt as an Intern. I’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone at WSFF for making the internship so brilliant and for supporting me through this transition phase, you’ve been amazing!

And so I say goodbye to the Intern Blog… in a few weeks’ time you’ll probably find me shouting at the new intern for not making my tea the way I like it. (Just kidding, I hate tea. (Also kidding, obviously I think tea is wonderful)).

Farewell!
