WSFF welcomes landmark sponsorship for England Hockey

England Hockey has announced this week that Specialist Bank and Asset Manager, Investec, will be the principle partner of the England and Great Britain women’s teams; a landmark agreement welcomed by the Women’s Sport and Fitness Foundation (WSFF).

The five year contract, which also sees support for women at grass roots level, starts this month with the Euro Hockey Nations Championships in Germany where England will look to continue their good form at fourth place in the world rankings in the build-up to 2012.

The partnership comes ahead of next month’s publication of the 2011 Prime Time report from the WSFF; a follow-up report from last year’s “Prime Time; The Case for Commercial Investment in Women’s Sport”. The 2011 update will publish new figures on the amount of commercial investment women’s sport is attracting and as well as analysis on key factors which are driving the women’s sport market forward.

Tim Woodhouse, Head of Policy and External Affairs, at WSFF said:

“It’s fantastic to see Investec supporting women’s hockey and for England Hockey to secure such a strong partnership. The length of the deal, along with the fact that it covers from grass roots to the national team, will make it one of the most valuable ever secured by a women’s team sport.

“It’s the latest in a growing trend of sponsorship deals which have chosen to focus on women’s sport and we’ll be reporting in more detail in our Prime Time 2011 report.”

The Women’s Sport and Fitness Foundation work closely with sports governing bodies and deliverers, the media and policy makers to offer help, persuade and inspire women and girls to be more active.
