Di has been associated with WSFF since 1999 and has seen the organisation develop and flourish into a bold influential voice for women and girls’ sport and physical activity in the UK. Initially trained as a teacher specialising in Physical Education, Di pursued a career in the Leisure Industry for 17 years culminating as a Chief Officer for Leisure in Wiltshire. Di then worked as a freelance consultant before joining the Audit Commission as an Inspector for the newly formed Best Vale Inspection Service, continuing to work for them as a consultant.
Di is now the Chief Executive of the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS), a post she has held for over 8 years. RLSS UK is the governing Body for Lifesaving Sport and Lead Industry Body for training lifeguards, setting standards and providing guidance and advice on aquatic safety.
She is involved with the World Body for Lifesaving and Chairs the Equity and Diversity Committee for the International Lifesaving Federation (ILS) and the Management and Administration Commission for ILS Europe. Di is also a member of the RLSS Commonwealth Business and Strategic Planning Commission and travels widely as part of her involvement in the international scene.
Di is also a Trustee and Director for Skills Active and is the representative for National Governing Body’s to the Board.
Sport remains an important part of her life and naturally Di enjoys swimming and is happiest in on or near the water! Di will be taking part in the Great Swim series this summer, swimming a mile in open water for her Charity, RLSS UK.
