The best of British women’s sport was celebrated last night at The Sunday Times Sportswomen of the Year Awards 2011. The ceremony, hosted by the BBC’s Gill Douglas, attended by a host of stars from the sporting world including Lord Coe, was held at the Sunday Times headquarters in Central London.

WSFF were very proud to be the charity partners at the event and congratulate all of those nominated, along with the extremely worthy winners.

WSFF are delighted to congratulate the winners of The Sunday Times Sportswomen of the Year Awards 2010. Maggie Alphonsi, the iconic England women’s rugby player, has been awarded Sportswoman of the Year 2010, while Fran Halsall, European Swimming Champion, collected WSFF Young Sportswoman of the Year.

Big Deal? The case for commercial investment in women’s sport

WSFF have published a new report from The Commission on the Future of Women’s Sport, revealing that there continues to be a chronic lack of investment in elite women's sport in the UK.

Sponsorship of women's sport in the UK amounted to just 0.5% of the total market between January 2010 and August 2011. The report cites ten top reasons why the time is ripe to invest in women's sport including international success, low cost of entry, London 2012 and the powerful engagement opportunities offered by social media.

The Olympics and Paralympics are nearly here...

Just a few months away from the greatest show on earth we have a once in a lifetime opportunity to stimulate and sustain increased participation amongst women. But it's not going to be easy, still only one in five women do enough to benefit their health.

The events will be held in London and Manchester and are designed to give sports deliverers the opportunity to learn about what projects are increasing women's participation in sports and fitness. Allowing you to share your experiences and be inspired to deliver engaging and inclusive programmes.
