Creating a Nation of Active Women provides the framework to address the crisis detailed in It’s...
Figures from WSFF's Women in sport audit 2007/2008 showed that just 2% of articles and 1% of images in sports pages of national newspapers are devoted to female athletes and women's sport.
This is worrying on many levels. It doesn't credit and celebrate all the hard work and successes of our elite sportswomen. It prevents brands from wanting to invest in women's sport and so it continues to lose out. It creates a lack of fit and healthy role models for women and girls to aspire to.
In addition, WSFF has launched a brand new toolkit to help deliver sports and fitness programmes for women and girls. In it there’s a great guide on marketing sports activity – from using social media and designing posters to writing press releases for local newspapers or broadcast outlets.
