Whether public or private, it's the level of investment in sport which distinguishes whether it's a big hitter or short changed; money drives the provision, promotion and participation levels in sport and at the moment, men are out in front.
We believe that sport is missing a trick and a huge opportunitiy. Women's sport can actually make a winning investment and provide sport with the biggest space to grow.
The Commission has been working with sport sponsorship experts to better understand the opportunity and how it can be unlocked.
In May a full report into the commercial value of women's sport will be launched. It will show that by developing the right strategies many players can benefit - not just the sports themselves, but also the media and the brands who are, and stand to be increasingly, involved in their development.
