Rachel Pavlou has over 15 years of sports development experience, particularly specialising in the last 10 years in the development of women's football.Rachel is currently the National Women's Football Development Manager for the Football Association. In her role, Rachel oversees the development and performance pathways of the game – working with national funding partners, leading the work programme of 52 full time Women's CountyOfficers and overseeing the 52 FA Centres of Excellence. All this to ensure the FA continues to increases participation and quality opportunities for all so that football remains the biggest team sport for females.
Rachel has also been heavily involved in event management throughout her career, and recalls her involvement in the UEFA 2005 Women's Football Championships and the British Colleges 1998 National Sports Championships as being particularly memorable.
Rachel was the first FA member of staff to be appointed onto a Regional Sports Board in 2003 and served as a member in the West Midlands region until 2008.
Rachel has played competitively at many sports, particularly tennis, hockey and football and still dons her goalkeeper kit weekly for Kings Heath Hockey Club. She is an avid Aston Villa supporter and is seen regularly in the North Stand Upper!
