Elaine Smith

Elaine is a Senior Development Manager at the London Development Agency (LDA) where she has worked for the last fourr years. She works in the Skills Development team and is responsible for developing programmes and projects targeted at workless groups.

Before she joined, she was the Chief Executive of Finsbury Park Community Trust, a Development Trust and training provider. FPCT was delivered a range of demand led vocational training programmes to disadvantaged groups. She set up a number of successful Social Enterprises in London. FPCT and its subsidiary companies / social enterprises employed over 80 staff many of whom were workless.

Before this Elaine had spent 6 years at LB Haringey Haringey Adult Learning Services (HALS) in various roles. She managed a team of staff responsible for managing and developing a range of demand led, employer based programmes. Her team placed more than 200 Youth and Adult trainees per year into work experience / apprenticeship programmes.

Elaine spent 10 years in the Civil Service working for the Manpower Services Commission in a number of roles including, marketing and staff development.

She is a passionate Netball player who still plays regularly, coaches young Netballers and adult returners to the game in her spare time.
